Multi-label Chest Abnormality Detection System (MCADS)

By using MCADS, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

  1. Acceptance of Terms
    • By accessing and using MCADS, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the Software.
  2. Description of Service
    • MCADS is a research demonstration software developed using Django, PyTorch, and TorchXRayVision libraries. The Software provides:
      • Image analysis of chest X-ray images using pre-trained deep learning models
      • Probability scores for various pathological conditions
      • Educational visualization tools
      • Research and academic demonstration capabilities
  3. Medical Disclaimers and Limitations
    • Not for Clinical Use
      • MCADS is NOT a medical device
      • MCADS is NOT validated for clinical diagnosis
      • MCADS is NOT approved by any medical regulatory authority (State Medicines Control Agency under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, etc.)
      • MCADS is NOT intended to replace professional medical judgment
    • Accuracy Limitations
      • The Software provides probability scores, NOT definitive diagnoses
      • The underlying AI models may produce false positives and false negatives
      • The Software's predictions may be inaccurate, unreliable, or completely wrong
      • The Software has not been clinically validated for accuracy
      • Performance may vary significantly across different populations, imaging conditions, and pathologies
    • Professional Medical Consultation Required
      • ALWAYS consult qualified healthcare professionals for medical decisions
      • NEVER make medical decisions based solely on MCADS output
      • NEVER delay seeking medical attention based on Software results
      • Any medical concerns require immediate consultation with licensed medical professionals
  4. Limitation of Liability
    • No Liability for Medical Decisions
      • The authors, developers, contributors, and affiliated institutions ("Providers") shall not be liable for:
        • Any medical decisions made based on Software output
        • Any misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis
        • Any adverse health outcomes
        • Any reliance on Software predictions
        • Any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
    • Maximum Liability
      • To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of the Providers shall not exceed zero euros (€0.00).
  5. No Warranties
    • Disclaimer of All Warranties
      • The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, including but not limited to:
        • Warranties of merchantability
        • Fitness for a particular purpose
        • Non-infringement
        • Accuracy or reliability
        • Continuous availability
        • Error-free operation
    • No Medical Warranty
      • The Providers make no warranties regarding:
        • The medical accuracy of predictions
        • The clinical validity of results
        • The Software's fitness for medical use
        • The completeness or correctness of pathology detection
  6. User Responsibilities
    • Appropriate Use
      • Use the Software only for research, educational, or demonstration purposes
      • Understand the Software's limitations and disclaimers
      • Not rely on the Software for medical decisions
      • Seek professional medical advice for health concerns
      • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
    • Data and Privacy
      • Ensure proper authorization before uploading any medical images
      • Comply with HIPAA, GDPR, and other privacy regulations
      • Protect patient confidentiality
      • Use only properly anonymized images when required
  7. Prohibited Uses
    • Users SHALL NOT:
      • Use the Software for clinical diagnosis or treatment decisions
      • Present Software output as medical advice
      • Use the Software in any life-critical applications
      • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
      • Claim the Software is medically validated or approved
      • Use the Software without proper medical supervision when analyzing patient data
  8. Intellectual Property
    • Software License
      • MCADS is provided under the terms specified in the project's LICENSE file. The Software incorporates:
        • TorchXRayVision library
        • Pre-trained neural network models
        • Django framework
        • Various open-source components
    • Third-Party Components
      • Users acknowledge that the Software includes third-party components with their own licenses and terms.
  9. Indemnification
    • Users agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Providers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:
      • User's violation of these Terms
      • User's misuse of the Software
      • Any medical decisions based on Software output
      • Any breach of applicable laws or regulations
  10. Research and Academic Use
    • Intended Use
      • MCADS is intended for:
        • Academic research purposes
        • Educational demonstrations
        • Algorithm development and testing
        • Non-clinical research studies
    • Publication and Citation
      • When using MCADS in research or publications, users should:
        • Properly cite the Software and underlying models
        • Acknowledge the limitations and disclaimers
        • Include appropriate medical disclaimers in publications
  11. Updates and Modifications
    • Software Updates
      • The Providers may update the Software without notice
      • Updates may change functionality, accuracy, or behavior
      • Users should regularly review these Terms for changes
    • Terms Updates
      • These Terms may be updated at any time
      • Continued use of the Software constitutes acceptance of updated Terms
      • Material changes will be communicated through appropriate channels
  12. Termination
    • Termination Rights
      • Users may stop using the Software at any time
      • Providers may terminate access for violations of these Terms
      • Termination does not affect accrued rights or obligations
  13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
    • These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Lithuania. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Lithuania.
  14. Severability
    • If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
